Not Exactly History... Our Story

"There are no squishy cookies. Just monster cookies." said Alexis, a five year old patron as she peered into the bakery case at the Colonial House Restaurant, Bakery and Bar. If she only knew how right she was. The Colonial House does not skimp on ingredients, curtail in portion or lower its standard.

Located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the Colonial House Restaurant offers great food and great service but above all, offers high quality hospitality. One long time employee was once quoted as saying, "Our hospitality derives from cooking with fire, carrying the fire inside ourselves and passing the fire on to fellow employees and most importantly, on to our guests."

The Rapid City restaurant was founded on three basic principles. First, the restaurant cannot fail but if that impossible event were to ever take place, the captain and his crew would go down with the ship. Second, hospitality comes before all else, followed closely by the quality of delicious American food served. And third, as the founders always said (and still say), "Never give up." It's been these basic principles that have kept the Colonial House Restaurant and Bar the Black Hills' favorite place to eat.
